Our story
How Honest Blocks began
Two sisters asked their dad for a fun block game. They had one rule: it could never cheat.
A simple request
Honest Blocks started with a question from two daughters: "Dad, can you make us a fun blocks game?"
They loved block puzzles. They had tried plenty of them, and they kept running into the same problems. Some games were so full of ads that a round barely started before the next ad played. Some froze, crashed or simply stopped working. And some were just boring.
They did not want another game like those. They wanted one that was fun to play, and fun to come back to.
Drawing it up together
So the three of them sat down together and drew up the game. The board, the pieces, what happens when a line is cleared, what makes a great move feel great. Ideas went down on paper, got crossed out, and came back better.
Then the girls added the rules that mattered most to them:
"The game can't cheat."
"It has to be fair to all the players."
It is a simple idea, and a surprisingly rare one. Many games quietly decide what you get based on how you are doing, or are built around getting you to watch one more ad. The girls wanted a game that treats every player the same, every time.
Turning a rule into a promise
Their rule became the promise at the heart of Honest Blocks:
- Fair pieces. Every piece is picked by chance from published odds that are the same for everyone. The game never looks at your board to choose what comes next. The full list of shapes and their odds is on the Fair pieces page, and any game can be dealt again in a browser to check it.
- No ads during a game. Not one. At most one short ad plays between games, and the rules for it are written out on How ads work.
- Free to play. The whole game is free. One optional purchase removes every ad, once, for good. Never a subscription, and nothing that buys a better score.
That is how Honest Blocks was born
Honest Blocks is built by one person: the dad who was asked. The rules his daughters set at the start are still the rules today, and every decision about the game is checked against them: is it fun, and is it fair to every player?
